Summer Series: Extensions and the Sun

IMG_7340With summer in full swing, it is important that we not forget the damage the sun does to our natural hair, but especially to extensions. Sun bleaches hair naturally, so staying out in it for long periods could mean a mismatch of colors. Plus, the lack of natural oils makes them especially susceptible to drying and fading.  You can protect your hair and extensions by wearing hats, scarves, or wraps when exposed to the sun for long periods of time. Not only does this protect your natural hair, but protect the extensions and the bonds, tape, or beads used. Also, use Bumble and Bumble’s Invisible Oil Heat/UV Protective Primer. Infused with 6 featherlight oils it helps soften, detangle, de-frizz, tame flyaways, ease styling and protect against breakage, heat-styling and UV damage if hair is exposed. See this article for more care info about your extensions.
